Cebu City, Philippines — It is with great pride and gratitude that the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women (IAPESGW) announces the official release of three important publications arising from its 20th World Congress, held in Cebu, Philippines, and organized by Sportphil with support from the University of the Philippines Cebu and the Philippine Sports Commission.
These publications are more than academic milestones — they are a record of a Congress that brought the global IAPESGW community together under the theme *Equity in Action*, and a statement of the organization’s enduring commitment to advancing opportunities, participation, leadership, research, and advocacy for girls and women in physical education, sport, and movement cultures worldwide.
1. The IAPESGW Cebu Declaration (2025)
At the heart of this release is the **IAPESGW Cebu Declaration**, a powerful statement of resilience, solidarity, and renewed purpose. Emerging from a Congress marked by both unprecedented challenges and extraordinary international cooperation, the Declaration captures the collective voice of delegates from around the world and sets out a shared vision for the future of gender equity in sport.

2. The Book of Abstracts of the 20th IAPESGW World Congress
The Book of Abstracts, now carrying an official ISBN, brings together the breadth and depth of scholarship, practice, and advocacy shared by delegates at the Congress. From research on athlete development to grassroots empowerment programs, the collection is a snapshot of where the global conversation on women and girls in sport stands today — and where it is headed next.
The Book of Abstract is available here.
3. Special Issue on Gender — International Sports Studies
Rounding out the release is a Special Issue on Gender, published in the Scopus-indexed journal *International Sports Studies*. This issue strengthens IAPESGW’s scholarly contribution to the international discourse on gender equity in sport and physical education, offering peer-reviewed research that will inform policy, practice, and future advocacy.

A Legacy 76 Years in the Making
Together, these three publications showcase the enduring impact of IAPESGW’s 76-year legacy and its continuing role in shaping inclusive, transformative futures for girls and women through sport and physical activity. From a single declaration born in Cebu, to a globally accessible book of scholarship, to a peer-reviewed special issue reaching researchers worldwide — this release reflects an organization that continues to turn equity into action.
Sportphil is the local organizer of the 2025 conference. Together with IAPESGW, we extend gratitude to the University of the Philippines Cebu, the Philippine Sports Commission, Sweep, Race Ya, and every delegate, author, and partner who made the 20th World Congress — and these publications — possible.
