Subject: Update on the 2025 IAPESGW Conference in Cebu City
Dear IAPESGW World Congress Delegates,
Warm greetings from the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the 2025 IAPESGW World Congress.
Following the recent earthquakes that affected parts of Cebu Province and surrounding regions, we would like to provide an important update regarding the status of our upcoming conference, scheduled for November 5–7, 2025, in Cebu City, Philippines.
After a thorough structural inspection conducted by the City Engineers’ Office, both the University of the Philippines Cebu (our main venue) and the recommended conference hotels have been cleared as structurally safe and fully operational. Based on this official clearance and in consultation with local authorities, the LOC has decided to proceed with the conference as scheduled.
We are pleased to report that no commercial flights to or from Cebu have been cancelled since the first earthquake on September 30, nor following the second one earlier today, October 13. Nonetheless, we respect each delegate’s decision regarding their mode of participation and encourage everyone to prioritize their personal comfort and safety.
We understand, however, that some delegates may still feel apprehensive about traveling at this time. To accommodate these concerns and ensure inclusive participation, we will offer a hybrid format, allowing registered delegates to present their papers either in person or online. Kindly send us an email at iapesgw2025@gmail.com and advise us if you intend to participate and/or present virtually instead.
